If you’re like me, you’re still trying to wrap your mind around the fact that we’re nearing the end of the Sandra Oh era! What I will miss most are her insightful interviews such as this one! Sandra spoke with Daily Life and this is some of what she had to say!
“I made the decision at the start of the season and told Shonda (Rhimes, Grey’s showrunner) and then told everyone else during the read-through of the 200th episode. My first instinct was to say ‘don’t worry, we have the whole year – you’re not going to get rid of me for 10 months’. And then we just kind of went to work. But every so often I’ll catch someone looking over at me and I’ll be like ‘don’t look at me, don’t look at me’.
“You know, she’s gone through so many things. I feel as if we’ve explored the character fully – the ups and downs, the inner parts, the outer parts.”
While one creative period is now coming to an end, Oh already has plenty of plans for life after Grey’s. She has the Melissa McCarthy comedy Tammy due out in July and is also booked to do Death and the Maiden at Chicago’s Victory Gardens.

I read this interview and my heart squeezed in my chest a little. I was reminded of why I fell in love with Grey’s Anatomy to begin with! I’m truly going to miss Sandra Oh/Cristina Yang!
